16 teams have already confirmed participation in the Standard Chartered Impala Rugby Academy – TRF under 16 tournament.
Pool A: Top Fry, Brumbies, Comras I, Dagoretti
Top Fry take the van into Nairobi the tournament top seeds, but Brumbies are not to be cancelled out if previous performance is a platform for judgement. A consistency in structural improvement has been witnessed in Comras. A huge pool of players is their strength and they are most likely going to use this to their advantage in surviving expected sweltering temperatures on game day. Dagoretti could turn out as the biggest opposition to Top Fry. Most of the players in the Dagoretti outfit are active members of the Standard Chartered Impala Rugby Academy
Pool B: Nakuru Academy, Maono, Comras II, Upper Hill
Nakuru academy, the top seeds in this pool will be looking at running over an ever improving Maono. Competition between Comras II and Upper Hill is expected to provide a never seen before battle. A tricky pool this is. It all goes down to who matches the other, stride to stride, pass to pass and try to try.
Pool C: KCB, Olympic, Comras III, Ofafa Jericho
Can the young bankers from Thika road emulate their seniors to winning silverware? Olympic have been growing stronger by the minute. A point to note is their elaborate & ambitious approach when they meet a stronger opponent in Comras. Ofafa Jericho has already carved a niche for themselves in the Secondary school championships. But can their ‘sixteens and under’ replicate the flowery and spirited display exhibited by the school rugby team recently?
Pool D: EPS, Lenana, Comras IV, Eutycus
EPS begin their trophy captain as top seeds in this pool. Lenana School has over the years grown less formidable, but if recent performance is to be referenced, a match between them & EPS is a fire cracker. Comras IV and Eutycus have been posting mixed results but none of us knows what they have under their sleeves come D- Day.
The tournament which begins at 9.00 am on 21st March 2015 will be played at 2 venues: Impala Club & the RFUEA, has already been described as the ultimate age grade tourney. It not only seeks to improve age grade rugby quality, but life skills among young rugby players too.
