Resolution Impala Saracens are pooled together with Nakuru, Mean Machine RFC & Kisii RFC in Pool B of the 2017 Christie 7s.
The Gazelles go into day 1 as head to head statistical underdogs to Top Fry Nakuru RFC. Both teams have only met once this entire 7s circuit. The final score during the opening match of the 2017 Prinsloo 7s was 10-14 in favor of Nakuru.
Resolution Impala Saracens fell 5-7 to Mean Machine RFC in a pool C match at Driftwood 7s. The teams have never met again this 7s circuit. The Christie 7s Pool B provides a rematch worth watching.
While Nakuru are yet to lift any Main Cup winners’ trophy, fact is they have been to 2 Main Cup Finals: Driftwood & Prinsloo. Resolution Impala Saracens have the Kabeberi 7s in the trophy cabinet at the Impala Pavillion & recently lost 7-26 to Kabras in the Sepetuka 7s Main Cup Finals.
Kisii RFC were relegated to Division 2 after an unfortunate Driftwood 7s & have since not been able to secure promotion to Division 1. Tournament hosts SportPesa Quins have however extended an invitation to them. They are the third team that the Gazelles will face on day 1.
Nakuru sit 5th on the NSC log with 56 points. Mean Machine have not been able to continue their surprising ways since Driftwood 7s. They are now 10th on the NSC log with 30 points. Impala, who are position 3 on the table with 61 points after Homeboyz (68) & Kabras (63) respectively must seek a brilliant day 1 & a scintillating day 2 at Christie 7s.
Resolution Impala Saracens bowed out of the 2016 Christie 7s at the 3rd/4th play-off stage after a 17-26 loss to hosts SportPesa Quins.
If the Gazelles work hard & smart for it this weekend, their chances of lifting the overall circuit crown in Kisumu next weekend will be increased in leaps & bounds.
