Resolution Impala Saracens are through to the 2017 Dala 7s Main Cup Quarters after confirming dominance over Resolution Kisii in their last Pool B match. The Gazelles were first to go over. Overall NSC 2017 captain – Leon Adongo outsprinted his defenders to diving and sliding into the try box. Kwemoi’s attemt at converting was hit by a cross-wind. Kisii were a composed side under these conditions and launched a series of attacks only for spirited tackling for Impala to keep them away from levelling scores by half-time. While Kisii played within close quarters, Impala stuck to plan, passing the ball wide more often. This tactic, coupled with Impala’s brilliant ball handling skills in soggy conditions bore fruit midway through the second half. Ian Minjire pocketed from Mark Kwemoi, stepped out of his defender’s strong shoulder and stretched him for a clean 70 metres. Kwemoi couldn’t find the sweet spot with the boot. Kisii were however not going out of this rainy affair dry. An unconverted try scored right at the buzzer ended the match 10-5 in Impala’s favour.
Resolution Impala Saracens 7s Head Coach – Oscar Osir
According to our pre-tournament weather forecasting, we expected it to rain, but not as much as it did. All we went for is a win on this match. We could have stopped them from scoring, but the win is good enough. Kisii only scored when we didn’t respect the basics. The knock-ons, although very few, provided Kisii possession & that somehow distorted our plan. A win under such conditions, is still a win & I am happy about it.
Resolution Impala Saracens will now face Blak Blad RC in the Main Cup Quarters. Impala’s scorecard against BlakBlad is as follows:
Kabeberi 7s: Impala 7-21 Blad
Prinsloo 7s: Impala 10-7 Blad
The rivalry between both teams will be re-ignited tomorrow morning in the last Main Cup Quarter Final match
