Leonard Mugaisi isolated space between Anthony Odhiambo and the scrum from own 5 to launch an 85 metre run which ended at the try box. The conversion went through. Richard Sidindi & Derrick Mayar could have placed Impala ahead in the match, but their mistakes in attack denied Impala vital points in the first half. An opportunity opened up for Harritone Munai to run into the try-box, but he was stopped by a high-tackle from Leonard Mugaisi. After showing Mugaisi the yellow, referee Beryl Achieng went ahead to award the penalty try.

After serving time in the bin, Mugaisi came back to punch through in fashion similar to his first half try. The resultant conversion went through. Impala replied through Derrick Mayar, but Patrick Mutuku couldn’t level the scores. The Gazelles could have come out of this match with a better result, but an initial knock-on by Paul Mutsami & slow reaction within ruck provided opportunity for Homeboyz to turnover and score at the corner. The conversion that followed went wide.
