Impala Saracens Fly-half Nato Simiyu will be sidelined for two weeks after suffering a concussion during Saturday’s 19-15 Kenya Cup win over defending champions KCB at Impala.
Nato suffered the injury in the very first minute but was cleared of low level concussion by the medics on the ground on the day.
Mohammed Omollo
Impala director of Rugby Fred Ollows says,
“Losing a person of Nato’s caliber leaves a hole in the team but Impala has been playing at a particular level which all the players understand. This is why Mohammed Omollo came in and filled the position well”
Mohammed Omollo came in for Simiyu with the latter expected to miss the clash against Blakblad at home this Saturday and the forthcoming Great Rift 10-aside in Nakuru.
Scat 3 concussion test
Ollows adds that with Nato’s absence, Antony Nyandigisi, Innocent Simiyu, Jeremy Mwambu and Mohammed Omollo are all able to fill the slot and further assessment will be done over the week to see who takes the position on Saturday.
“He should be back in the game against Kabras Sugar, actually he passed the Scat 3 concussion test on Saturday but player’s welfare comes first. On Monday he was with the boys and he will be looked at in the coming days”, concluded Ollows.
Nato had recently been called up to the Kenya XVs team to kick start preparations for 2016 assignments that include, and not limited to Africa Cup and Elgon Cup games.
