Captain – Samuel Motari went over the chalk in the 5th minute but Mark Kwemoi’s attempt at finding the posts went wide. Resolution Impala Saracens controlled the remaining 2 minutes of the second half and managed to force a 5-0 score-line at halftime.
Matters took a different turn in the second half. The Gazelles soaked in 3 tries, one scored by Stephen Sikuta and converted by Daniel Taabu. Indiscipline in defence by Impala gifted Mwamba perfect opportunity to score at the 10th minute. Taabu converted to stretch Impala’s trail to 5-14. C. Injera’s try at the 12th minute which went unconverted pushed the scores to 5-19. Mark Kwemoi’s spirited solo effort was brought to a stop in Mwamba 5 yard area by Matt Wanjia. Resolution Impala Saracens will now meet Strathmore Leos in the Challenge Trophy Quarter Final at 0940 HRS EAT
FT: Resolution Impala Saracens 5-19 Mwamba RFC
Resolution Impala Saracens Head Coach – Oscar Osir:
With all due respect to Mwamba, they played well. The introduction of Injera gave them impetus. We had a good start against them but failed to execute our plan in the second half. There is a lot we need to sort out within structure. Our physical ability is superb, but our sticking to structure is what needs tweaking. Going into the Challenge Trophy presents an opportunity to re-engineer & come back with better tact.
