Machine signaled their intent early on, forcing an infringement off Quins but Kelvin Njugi;s 2nd minute goal attempt sailed wide of the posts as the match remained scoreless.
This fixture would slowly ebb and flow into life, both sides showing their attacking intent and it was Machine who went ahead courtesy of Njugi’s 18th minute penalty following another Quins infringement.
Brian Mwenda would soon put Quins ahead, touching down with Kevin Keegan converting for a 7-3 lead. Keegan would add a penalty before half time to see the quartered shirts take a 10-3 lead into the interval with their eyes firmly trained on a first title since the last of their three previous wins in 1998.
Paul Abuto would extend Quins’s lead with an unconverted try three minutes into the second half as they gradually took control of the fixture despite Machine’s valiant efforts. When Dennis Muhanji landed his side’s third try with twenty minutes to play, one could just feel the wind knocked out of Machine’s sails as they eased into the final where they will play defending champions KCB who pulled off a 25-21 result over Top Fry Nakuru.
