‘A slow start to day 2 of the 51st annual Christie 7s just got Resolution Impala Saracens dropping to the plate’
Nondies came into the game with intent, seemingly daring to attack with zeal, forcing the Kenyan Sarries to making desperate tackles. The weather did not play to Impala’s favor. The wet conditions made it a little difficult for handling and execution of the wide ball.
Fly half Kevin Ouma will however go down on record as having made a terrible mistake within Impala’s 22. A grubber inside Impala’s was secured in his hands and instead of killing the ball, opted to dance with it inside the box. A lot of the fans expected him to boot it deep into Nondies’ territory but in an unlucky twist, found Biko Adema’s pouch waiting inside Impala’s 22. Biko would whip it out to Oscar Dennis who slipped through to the box. Biko failed to convert this. 5-0 Nondies.
A couple of handling errors and missed tackles got Teddy Salano making a clean 2 metre run into the try box. Biko converted this to get Nondies ahead by 12 points at the halftime hooter.
The second half would become a messy affair with both teams failing to secure proper possession. Impala looked the better side though. With flashes of brilliance from Derrick Mayar and Samson Onsomu. Impala would have come back into this game if only a little concentration in ball handling by Muniafu would have sufficed. A midfield battle of pushing, shoving ad kicking gifted Nondies some lucky opportunity. Biko’s pick, subsequent 50 metre run and final conversion closed the match at 19-0 in Nondies’ favor.
