Anthony Odhiambo’s unconverted 12th minute try scored after the fly-half side-stepped through a multitude of Mwamba forwards announced opening of the score sheet. Mwamba full back and specialty kicker – Brian Kivasia would have cut his team’s trail by 3 points but he missed a clear opportunity to split the posts.
Enjoying the best of forward form, Impala prop – Stephen Ayora tucked the ball in, entered contact, dragged 4 defenders, rucked. Scrum-half Ian Mabwa whipped it out to fullback Richard Sidindi to score at the 16th minute. Quinto Ongo’s boot struck perfect stretching Impala’s lead to 12-0.
Impala would find themselves on the receiving end after Kivasia split the posts in the 19th minute. He went ahead to convert Stephen Sikuta’s try 2 minutes later cutting the visitors’ trail to only 2 points.
Impala’s Odhiambo identified mistakes in Mwamba’s back three positioning, chipped a shallow one. Patrick Mutuku collected and burnt 30 metres of grass to scoring at the 25th minute. Ongo was sure with the conversion. Impala 19-10 Mwamba.

Impala Centre – David Moenga would get binned for dangerous play in the opening minutes of the second half but Mwamba could not be seen hungry to utilize this deficit. No team scored against the other in this half, but the visitors proved dominant with possession. Impala’s Elvis Oroko, who was named Man of the Match was instrumental in ensuring the visitors don’t taint the Boks’ unbeaten status.
