This has been by far the most performance driven team the Impala community has ever had in years. Form, class and talent is topped with hard work whenever they get on the turf. Some of them have not even received their national identity cards but continue to wow the stands. For what they lack in age and experience, it is covered in pace, youthful exuberance and stealth. When they lost to the University of Eldoret in the nationwide quarters on home grass, there was need to go back on the drawing board. Standard Chartered Impala Rugby Academy head coach Nick Odera had this to say, ‘Our conditioning at that time was a tad off. We started on the right footing but could not maintain momentum around the 60th minute. Everything then began going south, sinking. We lost out on the 2014-15 nationwide finals but not our attitude. A review in tactic has enabled us get this far. It is no doubt that we shall be looking at nothing but sticking to structure when we go against MKU Thika at midday 17th April 2015.
The Ian Mabwa captained team goes into the game stronger than the opponent on paper. A fluid forward outfit boasting of the likes of Victor Odhiambo & Steve Shammah is sure to tear through the set piece. An unforgiving backline fuelled by William Odhiambo is set to realize run completion with every ball sent wide
