12 named for 2015 Christie 7s task

Resolution Impala Saracens 7s coach Nick Odera named his 12 best last night. Not new to many a fan, the coach who steered Impala to a 7th place overall finish will have to dig deeper than ever this weekend. On his path is a highly physical Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC, a stubborn Kabras Sugar outfit & a tricky Mean Machine RFC. The team’s proceeding to the Main Cup Quarters will be determined by scores within the first 2 matches. It is highly imperative that the 7 Gazelles on the field of play work harder than their opponents & beat them in both tact and reaction on the field of play. Odera’s option of blending youthful exuberance within the experienced crop seems a daring approach once more. This approach got the team blasting teams on their way to the Christie 7s finals last year & we can’t wait to watch it unlock levels after the other.

The Team

Harritone Munai has forged his way through the academy system and could receive a starting position this weekend. He is joined by another youngster – Sidney Muniafu whose strength lies in ball carrying; a vital asset that Odera would want to use whenever the opposition turns physical. After sitting on the Gazelles bench and playing in the ESS and Academy teams, Paul Mutsami finally earns his stripes this weekend. His composure on the pitch could be just what the team needed in reducing unwarranted infringements. Long time serving forward Davis Oundu, Centre Derrick Mayar, scrumhalves Samson Onsomu, Kevin Ouma, Richard Sidindi, fly half Nato Simiyu & winger Pius Shiundu are not new to Sevens rugby. They should be having a fluid time steering the team to wins. An interesting inclusion is former Kenya international, Innocent Simiyu whose performance at the 2014 Christie 7s wowed many a fan. The team also welcomes Kevin Ochami who is expected to turn the tables over when he comes face to face with his former teammates in the last pool B match of the day. The biggest question is: Will the Resolution Impala Saracens win the Christie 7s this year?
