Resolution Impala Saracens’ unbeaten run in the 2016-17 Kenya Cup season has been cut short.

The team lost 10-28 to a SportPesa Quins side that appeared to control proceedings at the Impala Club under mixed weather conditions.

The hosts could have started off the blocks with a 3-0 lead, but Quinto Ongo’s boot failed to cleave the posts.

Kevin Keegan capitalized on Impala indiscipline, booting over a penalty to opening the scoreboard. Quins lock – Herman Humwa would then go over the wet chalk. Keegan converted with precision from the corner flag stretching Impala’s trail to 10 points. Paul Mutsami was caught entering ruck from the side by referee David Karani. Keegan would once more punish Impala, increasing the trail by 3 more points. Humwa would make it a brace at the stroke of half time but Keegan booted wide.

Impala’s attempt at laying siege and setting camp in Quin half within the first 16 minutes of the 2nd half bore fruit. Quinto Ongo booted over for 3 points. SportPesa Quins’ Frank Kalwale was yellow carded for infringement in the 55th minute. Impala would use this opportunity to scoring their only try of the rainy afternoon. Duncan Ekasi struck into gap, stretching Quin 8th man – Brian Okwomi before diving into the box. Ongo converted with ease. The score board read 10-18. Impala needed a try to startle proceedings and probably change the tenor of the game. However, after phase play and a clear cut overlap in Quin 22, Anthony Nyandigisi would pass the ball forward to Mark Kwemoi. Referee David Karani blew the whistle just in time to disallow Kwemoi’s try.

Keegan booted over penalty at the 3/4 mark. Patrice Agunda would sneak in a try at the 80th. Keegan confirmed Impala’s loss with a successful conversion.

Resolution Impala Saracens’ Director of Rugby, Mr. Fred Ollows stated, ‘’Big matches are about key moments. Quins seemed more ready mentally for the contest. As I said before the match, this fixture was going be about taking moments. They executed theirs, we didn’t ours. But we’ll be back’’
