RESOLUTION Impala Saracens Boks continued their unbeaten run in the Eric Shirley Shield campaign this weekend after braving humidity in Kakamega to beat hosts Western Bulls RFC.
Quinto Ongo split the posts twice to send Impala leading 6-0. The Boks’ lead would however be short-lived. Western Bulls took advantage of handling error by Impala to score and convert.
Anthony Odhiambo’s craftiness would be seen weaving around Western Bulls defenders. A spark of exuberance exploded into flames when he committed 2 defenders passed it to Robert Otieno. Robert would then release Ongo to scoring at the corner. Ongo’s attempt at the posts flew wide. 11-7 Impala Boks.
Shem Angugo; new kid on the block plotted his name on the scorers’ sheet. Quinto’s boot failed to find the sweetspot at the posts.

Eighth-man Valentino Cosmas sneaked from behind the scrum to score. Ongo missed his third conversion. Western Bulls would rally from own half to score in the corner but failed at the conversion. 21-17 Impala.
Replacement scrum-half Xavier Kipng’etich would send the whitewash splattering into the air after sneaking behind the scrum. He converted his own to stretch Impala’s lead to 28-17. Cosmas scored his brace in the dying minutes of the second half after punching through Western Bulls gap in drift defence. Xavier’s attempt at collecting the extra 2 points flew wide.
