Resolution Impala Saracens started their 2017 Nakuru 10s campaign with a hard fought win over Eldoret RFC.
Impala were first over the chalk through an Israel Soi try. Next over the line was Elvis Oroko. Mohammed Omollo failed to find the posts on both occasions, settling for a 10-0 lead by half-time.
The Eldoret RFC reserves bench rose up in cheer after Caxton Aresi dived into the try box in the 11th minute. He then converted, cutting Impala’s lead to only 3 points. Robin Kiplang’at scored in the 13th minute. Mohammed Omollo converted to stretch Impala’s lead to 17-7. Referee Billy Ochieng awarded Eldoret a penalty try after an alleged high tackle by Timothy Makiya.
Robin Kiplang’at, the undisputed Man Of The Match sped past Eldoret defenders in the 17th minute. He had the chance to dot, but opted to pass to Paul Mutsami who grounded it. Omollo converted with ease. Impala could have scored another through Samson Onsomu but Brian Opar’s delivery after sidestepping three Eldoret defenders came out untidy. Onsomu’s desperate attempts to pocket the ball failed.
Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby, Mr. Fred Ollows: We were good tactically. Our scrum was good. We also didn’t lose a line-out. Such scores are expected during the first match of the game. The most important thing is we won.
