Lock – Simon Muniafu, scrum-half – Samson Onsomu, flanker – Kerre Erick & inside centre – Leo Seje Owade will be the only players from Resolution Impala Saracens starting against Hong Kong this Saturday 26th August 2017 at the RFUEA. Prop – Dennis Karani & full-back Vincent Mose will start from the bench. James Kubasu will not be involved in international rugby this weekend.
Kenya played to a 19-19 draw against Hong Kong on 20th August 2017 at the RFUEA. The match which saw Samson Onsomu come off the bench, shift gears, contribute to the draw & finally earn the Man of the match award lives in the past, but talk around it on specific departments this week could be reason for changes. The Simbas definitely appeared the weaker side in scrum. Match pace in the first half was tepid, defence experienced lapses in concentration & the Simbas’ finish also appeared blunt.
Changes involving Impala players
Changes in the front row have Impala players J. Kubasu and D. Karani replaced with M. Amusala & C. Lilako of KCB. Notable pairing adjustments have been made in the starting second row. Impala’s Simon Muniafu & Kenya Harlequins’ Wilson K’Opondo play at lock, replacing Homeboyz’s E. Mavala & KCB’s O. Mang’eni. Impala’s Kerre Eric replaces Stathmore’s Elkeans Musonye at open-side flank. The half-backs see a S. Onsomu (Impala) I. Adimo (Kenya Harlequins) pairing. A change from last weekend’s L. Asiligwa (Kenya Harlequins) & B. Adema (Nondies) pairing. Last Sunday, Mwamba’s B.Owako & Quins’ P.Agunda started at inside centre & outside centre respectively. This weekend Impala’s S.Owade & KCB’s P.Kilonzo start at 12 & 13. Tony Owuor (Homeboyz) will start at full-back this Saturday. Impala’s V.Mose starts off the bench.
In a phone call interview with the Impala press team, Seje Owade exclaimed that he cannot wait to partner with Peter Kilonzo in midfield. Samson Onsomu previously mentioned that all the Simbas need to do this weekend is minimize on errors.
