Kabeberi7s: Resolution Impala Saracens squad named
Impala vs Nondies-68

The Resolution Impala Saracens sevens technical bench has released a list of players to feature for the team in it’s Kabeberi 7s title defence that commences this Saturday – 9th September 2017 at the RFUEA. The Gazelles won the leg last year after pushing Menengai Cream Homeboyz into sudden death in the final played on 15th August 2016 at the same venue. The 19-14 full-time score courtesy of a Lameck Dunde dash and try ensured the Kabeberi 7s trophy came to the Impala Club Pavilion. It was also during this tournament that Impala/Kenya 7s player Derrick Dulo Mayar was named MVP.

Vice-Captain – George Okowa would have wanted to play this weekend, but a groin injury he picked over the weekend has slowed him down. He had hoped to recover by midweek, but advice from the team doctors – Claire Kanje & Christopher Makachia is that he does not get involved in any high intensity rugby this weekend. It is also unfortunate for Driftwood 7s Man Of The Tournament – Ian Mabwa. He picked an injury in training this week. After assessment, the medical team advised he takes the weekend off. It has been an eventful week for the Gazelles: The team went through video analysis sessions, a rugby law session & a technical session with coaches: Oscar Osir & Nick Abok.

Resolution Impala Saracens enjoys a wide pool of players to choose from. The technical bench has called up the services of Quinto Ongo & Anthony Nyandigisi. While Quinto brings speed of attack into the squad, Nyandigisi brings in the experience from long service. Joel Omer, a forward who played at Driftwood 7s last weekend has been rested and in his place – Hannington Mbaka has been called up. Hannington is unpredictable in attack & impressive in defence.

The Gazelles are placed in Pool C together with Menengai Oilers, Catholic University of Eastern Africa & BlakBlad RC.
