Prinsloo 7s: Impala 10-14 Nakuru
IMPALA VS NAKURU PRINSLOO WEBSITE-2

Top Fry Nakuru were first to go over the try-line after a massive space creation by Nakuru fly-half – Geoffrey Ominde. Geoffrey ran across the pitch unfurling acres of space between Impala backs to release Kevin Kioko who raced more than 30 metres to touch down in the try-box. Ominde Converted. Impala reduced the trail by 5 points after Makori Davis barged through Nakuru defenders. The resultant conversion by Mark Kwemoi couldn’t find the distance. Gramwel Bunyasi would later increase Nakuru’s lead after scoring at the far corner. Ominde was accurate with his kicking.

Resolution Impala Saracens had the best of possession in the final 2 minutes of the second half & worked to create the only chance of winning the match. Luck would however not smile the Sarries way. Hannington Mbaka in a rush to offload & probably win the match, handed Nakuru’s Swanton Maina the ball. The resultant punt out of the pitch and the referee’s fulltime whistle meant that Impala would now have to dig deeper in the next two matches: Nondies & BlakBlad.

Oscar Osir, Resolution Impala Saracens 7s Head Coach:

A couple of players felt tempted and fell off the structure during the game. Nakuru came to us, attacked our lines & won the match. Mbaka’s mistake at the buzzer is an opportunity for him to learn. It might not be basis for any changes during the tournament. I must however heap praise on Davis Makori who created platforms of attack for us. He is a lock who plays XV rugby and for him to be able to play 7s this well, he deserves the man of the match accolade.

Fred Ollows, Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby:

We had good territory right from kick off but didn’t close it. But this was always going to be a hard game. Nakuru are at home, they played in the bowl 2 weeks ago and obviously don’t want to be seen in that situation again. I believe all we need to do in our next matches is get our minds in the game. Nondies & Blad will obviously be tough games.
