Resolution Impala Saracens have been drawn in Pool B of the 2017 Dala 7s alongside Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Western Bulls & Resolution Kisii.
The last time Resolution Impala Saracens met Menengai Cream Homeboyz, the Gazelles ran away with a 26-19 win at the Cup Semi Final stage at Sepetuka 7s. Impala has been on a steady rise since then. After the Main Cup final appearance at Christie7s, the Gazelles are now 2nd on the 2017 National Sevens Circuit with 80 points. Homeboyz who were in first position a week ago are now 3rd with 78 points. Both teams go into Dala 7s knowing that any loss will be detrimental to their overall trophy winning ambitions. This will be a sure cracker!
Although the Gazelles beat Western Bulls 15-0 in the Main Cup Quarters at Sepetuka, Resolution Impala Saracens 7s Head Coach – Oscar Osir was on record mentioning that it was not the result he expected. Western Bulls are an unpredictable side. Not many had expected them to reach the Sepetuka 7s Main Cup Quarters. Lady luck did not however smile on the Bulls last weekend. Their Christie 7s campaign ended with a 14-36 loss to Nondies at the Challenge Cup final. They are now 12th with 27 points. According to mathematics, Western Bulls might not be in contention for lifting the overall NSC 2017 trophy, but are expected to have a bigger & super charged fan base coming out to watch them battle Impala.
We have another sponsors’ derby this weekend! Resolution Impala Saracens meets Resolution Kisii. Impala won 36-12 against Kisii in a Pool B Christie 7s fixture last weekend. On paper after the full-time whistle, the Gazelles looked superior, but matters on the pitch in the final 3 minutes painted a different picture. Lapses in concentration & defence gifted Kisii two tries. Are they a team Impala ought to be wary when facing this weekend? 100% yes! Although they stand 15th on the log with only 9 points & stand no chance of lifting the overall NSC 2017 trophy, they would want to prove a point in how the sponsorship cake should be split.
