Great Rift 10 Aside Tourney: Resolution Impala Saracens in Pool F
IMG_4608

Resolution Impala Saracens have confirmed participation in the 2015 Great Rift 10 Aside Rugby Tournament. The two day tourney has attracted a total of 24 teams. And as expected, competition is expected to grow stiffer by the second. Worthy to note is out of the 24 times that the tournament has been hosted, Impala has managed to win this trophy back to back in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. The team did not win the trophy in the next 2 years but went ahead to bag it in 2004. The last time the trophy base touched the Impala cabinet shelf was 7 years ago, in 2007.

Pool F: Resolution Impala Saracens, Western Bulls RFC, Bungoma RFC, Technical University of Kenya

Bungoma RFC

For what they lack in experience, they make up for in pace. The youngsters from deep in Western have proven their mettle in the following two ways; Developing a rugby team from a region where rugby was a past time and getting the team promoted to premiership rugby – The Kenya Cup. Impala’s backs are known for that knack, but Bungoma’s are known for ruthlessness. An interesting fixture indeed.

Technical University of Kenya

Not much available to be posted about the Technical University of Kenya. The Standard Chartered Impala Rugby Academy has always run rings around them. We expect the Gazelles to post a ginormous if not a large score difference when they run on the rough Suguta turf.

Western Bulls

Another team from the Western region that claims its loot when allowed to. An inspirational kicker in Abuyeka and bulky utility character in Davis Chenge will be the men to pocket if at all they make it to Newton Ongalo’s list of duty. Expect rivalries to be renewed now that Resolution Impala Saracens beat the Western Bulls 37-23 during last week’s Enterprise Cup. Our bet: whoever wins this game tops the pool.

Duty now lies in the hands of The Resolution Impala Saracens technical bench of Frank Ndong’, Erick Situma and Fred Ollows. Their engine selection will determine if the Resolution Impala Saracens will bring back glory lost for 7 years or add another year of waiting.
