BlakBlad were first to show intent when Lionel Ekesa booted over penalty in the early minutes of the match. Impala outside centre – Billy Omondi cut short the students’ lead when he picked up a loose ball & dragged two defenders to score. Quinto missed the conversion by inches.
The Boks could have gone into the match bearing confidence but Blad displayed determination. They would commit heart at the breakdown & turn over at will. What they lacked was the ability to finish. Impala suffered many handling errors in the first half as well. Lack of concentration in opponent 22 from both teams could be touted as the reason why the half-time score stood at 5-3 Impala.
Billy Omondi’s second try converted by Quinto Ongo stretched Impala’s lead to 12-3. Ongo would later on tear past Blad backs but fail to convert his own. 17-3 Impala. Indiscipline in own half by Impala worked to provide Ekesa with the second opportunity to gather 3 more points for his side. Daniel Abok was later on carded for dangerous play in own half. Ekesa didn’t fail to punish Impala. He kicked neatly to gather the three points but his opposing kicker – Quinto Ongo had the last laugh when he converted Kwemoi’s try to close the game at 24-9 in Boks’ favor
