Tactical changes to reinforce attack and defence paid off handsomely this morning as the Resolution impala Saracens Boks whitewashed BlakBlad II 64-7.
1st Half:
After waiting for close to 10 minutes to find tune, Paul Mutsami went over the chalk. Robin Kiplagat missed the twos. BlakBlad would immediately appear the better side with possession but Impala were intensely quick to capitalize on their handling mistakes. Kiplagat would set up Moenga to score under the posts. Xavier Bett missed the conversion. A swift sequence of passes from Kiplagat, Sidindi to Ochako would find pocket rocket Ian Mabwa. Mabwa’s chip and subsequent bounce favored Ochako’s hands to going over the chalk. Kiplagat’s boot found the sweet spot. Another unforced error by BlakBlad gifted Patrick Mutuku an easy try on the corner flag. Kiplagat’s boot drifted wide. Captain of the day – Anthony Oyugi’s converted try in the 45th minute closed the 1st half at 29-0 in Boks’ favor
2nd Half
After a series of phases within the forwards, it was spread wide from Mutuku to Sidindi to Mabwa who landed his second try under the posts with Kiplagat adding on the extras. Reserve wing Michael Ochieng would later go over extending the lead to 41-0. Kiplagat’s boot did not disappoint with the extras, stretching the lead to 43-0. Michael Orwa scribbled his name on the scoreboard as the Boks broke Blakblad’s defence once more. Kiplagat who was having a good outing with the boot brought the score to 50-0. The Boks added on an extra 14 points through converted tries from Oyugi & Mabwa. BlakBlad’s Arcadius Khwesa managed to sneak in a converted try in between Oyugi’s & Mabwa’s tries. However, it was too little too late to worry the Sarries who won 64-7
