2 changes have been made to the Resolution Impala Saracens squad that played at Dala 7s 5 days ago. Oscar Osir’s technical bench will miss the services of a solid Harritone Munai. Munai visited the sick bay after picking an injury last weekend. It was expected that he would receive clearance, but the clock has ticked faster than the team doctor’s signature. Billy Omondi, who has been of great service to the Gazelles this entire 7s season, will not participate in this final leg. The technical bench has opted to rest him this weekend. He is a probable deployment in the longer version of the game when the 2018-19 XV season starts on 13th October with the 2018 edition of the Impala Rugby Floodlit Tournament.
Kerre Eric makes a return to the team after missing the Dala 7s leg. Douglas Ochako, who took on a passive player 13 role while in the lakeside city, impressed the tech bench in training these past 3 days and has been drafted to feature actively, covering miles on the playing turf. Ian Mabwa could not make it into the Dala 7s team due to work commitment. This weekend, he makes it to the team, but as the 13th player.
Resolution Impala Saracens Head Coach – Oscar Osir:
This weekend has nothing to do with the history we have against any team within our pool. We will start our Christie 7s campaign on a new plane. We will go back to our structures and play for ourselves. We created chances in Dala but failed to convert them into tangible scores. The players coming in are expected to help us maintain concentration and close the opportunities. We think it is a good opportunity for Kenya Rugby to have the likes of Uganda, TUKS & Bulls & the Russian team playing within a local 7s circuit. I know all eyes will be on the point awarding system, but all in all, it should be exciting to watch how the Kenyan teams play against them.
Resolution Impala Saracens Captain – Samuel Motari:
We had a lot of concentration lapses in Kisumu & also failed to maximize on the opportunities we created. We understand that the tournament hosts – Kenya Harlequins have invited 3 foreign teams. One is in our pool – The Uganda Emerging 7s. We have a lot of confidence in our conditioning especially after playing 5 legs of the circuit & based on our style of play, we should be able to achieve desirable results on day 1.
