Christie 7s: Resolution Impala Saracens Drop To Challenge Trophy Competition
christies_FANS_1

Resolution Impala Saracens will play in the Christie 7s Challenge Trophy Quarters after a rather blunt display today.

Resolution Impala Saracens 5-5 Uganda Emerging Sevens

The team appeared the better side on paper going into Saturday morning but just could not muster the qualifications required for top flight competition. A lot of unforced errors in the first match played a huge role in ensuring a 5-5 draw against Uganda Emerging Sevens. This match result seemed to have provided the Ugandans a lot of confidence. They went ahead to beat hosts Kenya Harlequins 19-17 in another Pool C match. The win against Kenya Harlequins would later play a huge role in placing the Ugandans in pole position.

Resolution Impala Saracens 28-7 Northern Suburbs

Impala started off the match trailing 0-7 and had to wait until the 5th minute for Paul Mutsami’s try, which was converted by Richard Sidindi to level the scores. Anthony Odhiambo tapped and landed in the try box to earn Impala try number two. He converted for 14-7. Derrick Mayar scored Impala’s third try. Odhiambo converted with ease to push scores to 21-7. ndividual brilliance by Captain Samuel Motari yielded 5 points at the corner. Patrick Mutuku performed well with the boot. His beautifully struck conversion closed the game 28-7.

Resolution Impala Saracens 5-26 Kenya Harlequins

In one of the most anticipated matches, it was expected that Impala could continue the Dala 7s momentum by beating Kenya Harlequins but the opposite happened. Samuel Motari picked offload from George Okowa to open the score-sheet. Anthony Odhiambo’s attempt at adding the extras went wide. This was the first and last time Impala crossed the Quins try line. Quins’ Solomon Okia scored a hatrick but only 2 of those tries were converted. Although Impala made changes at the half-backs and expected to turnover proceedings in the second half, a continuously rising error rate denied them the opportunity to come back into the game. Cyprian Kuto confirmed Impala’s drop to the Challenge Trophy when he scored a converted try at the buzzer.

Resolution Impala Saracens will now face Resolution Kisii in the Challenge Trophy Quarter Finals tomorrow 16th September 2018 at 1000 HRS. Venue: RFUEA
