Dala 7s: Another Interesting Day 1 awaits
Impala vs Quins Driftwood-44

An interesting Pool B awaits Resolution Impala Saracens 10 days from now. The Gazelles who despite posting improved performance at Driftwood 7s (10th place finish) compared to Kabeberi 7s (13th place finish), dropped a position on the overall log after a minor leap frog by Nondescripts RUFC. Nondescripts’ 5th place finish at Driftwood is to thank for Impala’s drop from 7th to 8th. Both teams have 38 & 37 points respectively.

The task ahead of his team will call upon every ounce of skill and strength to break through Day 1. If recent history is basis for analysis, the Gazelles go into Dala 7s the non-favourites. Mwamba finished 2nd at Driftwood after a sudden death try by Top Fry Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo. ‘Kulabu’ currently stands 2nd on the overall log with 70 points, 11 points shy of leaders -  Menengai Cream Homeboyz. Although Menengai Oilers stand 9th with 36 points, they are a unit capable of causing trouble to any team on the circuit. BlakBlad’s last encounter with Impala was a sour 7-7 draw at the Kenyatta Stadium during Kabeberi 7s which was influential in locking Impala out of the Main Cup Quarters when it came to point-tallying.

Speaking to our media team yesterday evening, Resolution Impala Saracens Head Coach – Oscar Osir confirmed, “It is an interesting pool owing to the head to head history we have against these teams. Our concern right now is to improve as a team. When we play as a unit, we come out of a leg with impressive results. I understand very well that Mwamba have been in 3 finals save for 1. We have not beaten Blad this season and Oilers are uniquely formless in execution. For now, my interest as a coach is to fix the internal combustion chamber and prepare it to work well for the remaining 2 legs. Desirable results will appear only with a functional unit.”

Dala 7s Poolings:

Pool A: Top Fry Nakuru, Resolution Kisii, Kenya Harlequins, MMUST

Pool B: Resolution Impala Saracens, Stanbic Mwamba, Menengai Oilers, BlakBlad RC

Pool C: KCB Lions, Kabras Sugar, Northern Suburbs, Mean Machine

Pool D: Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Nondescripts RUFC, Silverstone Kisumu , MKU Thika
