Driftwood 7s: Resolution Impala Saracens Beat Strathmore
Impala vs Strathmore

Captain Samuel Motari was first to go over the line in a match that Resolution Impala Saracens showed impressive dominance. Kwemoi failed to find the posts. 2 minutes later, Billy Omondi found himself on the wrong page of the rule book after a dangerous tackle on Edmund Anya. The yellow card flashed at him and a phase of attack later, Strathmore were sitting pretty in Impala try box, thumping their chests. An attempt at converting from George Orembo went wide. Mark Kwemoi, scored 3 minutes just out of half time. He converted to stretch Impala’s lead to 12-5. When every spectator believed that both teams could go into half-time without any more points registered, Paul Mutsami shocked the Mombasa Sports Club crowd when he wrestled 3 Strathmore defenders, shook off one and scored under the posts. Kwemoi converted to close the half.

HT: Resolution Impala Saracens 19-5 Strathmore Leos

Motari registed his brace at the 8th minute. Although Kwemoi missed the posts, he made up for it by scoring under the posts and converted to pile up woes on Strathmore. Mutsami pierced through defence a minute later. Mutuku converted from the far corner to pile even more problems on Strathmore. Kenya International, Eric Kerre scored at the 14th minute. Mutuku converted to end the match.

FT: Resolution Impala Saracens 45-5 Strathmore Leos

This result, although brilliant was not enough to guarantee Resolution Impala Saracens a spot in the Main Cup Quarters. The team will now meet Makueni in the Challenge Trophy Quarters at 1000 HRS on Sunday 25th August 2018. Venue: Mombasa Sports Club

Resolution Impala Saracens Captain – Samwel Motari:

We enter the challenge trophy once more. Our plan is to get as many points as we can now. We hope that we build up on the momentum generated during the Strathmore game in our next matches.

Resolution Impala Saracens Coach – Oscar Osir:

We should have hit and stuck to our execution strategies. We lost ball in contact during our first two matches. We have found ourselves in the Challenge Trophy. There is no other way out other than winning. We will try give everyone a chance, but especially those who stick their hands out.
