Resolution Impala Saracens will this weekend open fans’ eyes to the future of Impala at the annual rugby pilgrimage formerly called Nakuru 10s, now baptised The Great Rift 10-A-Side tournament. The squad, released on Thursday 18th April 2019 by Impala’s technical bench is a tactical move by the club to ensure continuity and longevity reign supreme in the 63 year old rugby club. Former Kenya XV back-row & probably the most experienced Kenyan rugby player still involved in active top-flight competition – Paul Oimbo has been named in the 15 man squad to chaperone the youthful lads into high profile competition. Hanningtone Mmbaka, who wowed the technical unit at the 2017 National Sevens Circuit & now plays at inside centre for the Gazelles has also been named in the team. Other players who have had a taste of premier competition & have been included in the side include – Elvis Oroko, Patrick Mutuku, Timothy Makiya, Emmanuel Okeya & Brian Opar. Makiya will use this tournament to announce his return to competitive rugby after a couple of months of absence due to personal commitments. With this support unit, it shouldn’t be difficult for players like Patrick Mawira, Sammy Kimakwa, Milton Omondi, Emmanuel Seje, Spencer Ochieng & Derrick Wechuli to take the first step into a future filled with competitive rugby success.
Resolution Impala Saracens is drawn in Pool A together with Homeboyz, Nondies & JKUAT.
The Group matches will be played on Saturday 20th April 2019 & the knock out stage matches played on 21st April 2019 at the Nakuru Athletic Club.
