Impala Gazelles went top of the Kenya Cup league with a 121 -10 win over Bungoma Sharks at Impala club.
The Gazelles scored 19 tries in the one sided contest to dislodge Quins whose unbeaten run came to a halt in Kakamega when they lost 41-17 to a revitalised Kabras outfit.
Flanker Joel Omer and Lock Eric Kere scored a hat trick of tries for the Saracens sponsored side who ran riot in the match. Vincent Mose, Daniel Ndome, Billy Omondi, skipper Duncan Ekasi scored two tries each with Innocent Simiyu, Davis Makori, Samuel Motari, Nato Simiyu scoring one each. The hosts were also awarded a penalty try. Impala led 45-0 at the interval. George Okowa added six conversions with substitute Mohammed Omollo adding two conversions for the home side. Ken Juma scored the consolation try for Sharks and added the conversion and penalty.
Impala team manager Nick Abok said the win was a good start to the New Year.
“A good way to start the New Year and a good win and it moves us to top of the table. Hopefully we can stay there till the season ends,” Abok added.
