Resolution Impala Saracens are through to the Kabeberi7s finals!
Mark Kwemoi was first to score under the posts. He converted for a 7-0 lead. Richard Sidindi then scored at the corner, but Nyandigisi missed the extras. Kabras’ Brian Tanga pulled back one for the sugar millers but his conversion went wide. At halftime, scores stood at 12-5 in Impala favour. Paul Mutsami dived into the box after a wonderful offload by Anthony Nyandigisi. Kwemoi’s boot struck neat & increased Impala’s lead by 14 points. Jacob Okumba scored for Kabras but the conversion that followed by Wokorach sailed wide. Seconds after Dan Sikuta was shown yellow for dangerous play, Mutsami went over for his brace. Kwemoi failed to find the sweet spot at the posts. Kabras’ Phillip Wokorach broke open Impala defence at the buzzer but opted not to kick the conversion. His choice for restart would not be enough for his comrades’ to gather any points.
Fulltime: Resolution Impala Saracens 24-15 Kabras
Peter Nduati, Impala veteran & Resolution Insurance Group CEO:
We were a more complete unit in the semis. We took our chances. We defended better & I think we can win easily. We only need to maintain our lines & make no mistakes. I believe we can beat Oilers
Charles Mbogo, Club Secretary Resolution Impala Saracens:
We kept it very simple and suffocated their attack. Kabras is a good team but the fact that we kept the ball longer meant no chance for them. Oilers are good with ball in hand. If we choke their possession, we can take advantage of their inexperience & win.
Fred Ollows, Resolution Impala Saracens Director Of Rugby:
Our boys were confident in this match. I am impressed by how they turned up for the match. Kabras has always been our banana peel, but I am pleased that we came out victors. There were a number of players who came through for the squad today. Paul Mutsami played extremely well. The Oilers match is a rematch at a very important stage of the tournament. If we can deny them possession, we sure have it!
Nato Simiyu, former Kenya 7s & 15s international & Impala fly-half
We played well in this match. The quarters were a validation of coming in this morning & putting our best foot forward. We were clinical in the semis. You could tell the boys were focused on the win. The fact that Kabras beat us last weekend but we’ve beaten them this weekend should be enough motivation for us to go into the next match energized. The match against Oilers won’t be easy. We therefore need to be very ready to play.
