Kabeberi 7s: Resolution Impala Saracens through to Semi
IMPALA vs KCB SELECT 2

Resolution Impala Saracens this morning beat KCB 17-0 in a match that the Gazelles displayed not only proper game management, but character in defence as well.

Mark Kwemoi was first to shred KCB defence, dotting under the posts but Kiplang’at’s boot flew wide. Richard Sidindi would later partner with Mark Kwemoi, a couple of offloads and passes later, Sidindi was seen grounding the ball in KCB try box. Kiplang’at failed to convert. Anthony Nyandigisi scored Impala’s win-assuring try at the corner and booted over to record a 17-0 lead for the Gazelles. KCB would have scored a try at the buzzer, but Billy Omondi jumped in and tackled a KCB player who spilt the ball with just inches to the try line.

Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby, Fred Ollows

We started by being under a lot of pressure but there always exists belief that KCB is a match we always have to win. We have now demonstrated that we never desire to play in the Challenge trophy. We needed to show the commitment to play in the semis. We saw Billy Omondi take a big tackle and deny KCB a try when the buzzer had already rent the air for fulltime and Impala were 17-0 ahead. Kabras has not been a good hunting ground for us, but now is the time to breach that barrier.

Resolution Impala Saracens Veteran and Patron – Mr. Mangeli:

Today the boys have played much much better. You could tell that they played for each other and managed the game better. Billy Omondi’s big tackle is what we expect from these boys. That strain of commitment is what should be cultivated within the team.

Resolution Impala Saracens Overall Captain – Duncan Ekasi

The boys’ mental strength was impressive. KCB are not a small side. Rising up from the BlakBlad loss to beating KCB without conceding points was a great mental shift. As a back-row, that Billy Omondi tackle is what I yearn for! It is every back-row’s dream!

Resolution Impala Saracens 7s Assistant Coach – Nick Abok

We took our chances. We had the mental advantage. But this quarter finals match is over. We now focus on the Main Cup Semis against Kabras Sugar.
