Mohammed Omollo was Resolution Impala Saracens’ top point scorer over the weekend during the 2017 edition of the Great Rift 10 aside tournament. Mohammed managed to gather 3 tries and 8 conversions. The youngster who has risen from the Standard Chartered Impala Saracens Rugby Academy has become a force to reckon with in recent times. Paul Mutsami, another graduate of the Standard Chartered sponsored academy who has become a regular fixture with the Gazelles crossed the line thrice and shares the try spoils with Omollo. Scrum-half Samson Onsomu and winger Israel Soi crossed over twice. Winger – Brian Opar, Centre – Billy Omondi, Locks – Tyson Okoth & Rainer Omondi and Prop – Joel Omer went over the chalk once. Robin Kiplang’at scored one try and kicked over one conversion.
Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby – Fred Ollows had brought with him youngsters on tour in the names of Elvis Oroko, Timothy Makiya and Emmanuel Okeya. Asked about who was the stand-out rookie of the tournament, he was quick to point out Elvis Oroko’s determination and hunger for success.
General sentiment from a section of the spectators noticed that Makiya’s strength was in his tackling and hence his inclusion in the KCB match where Impala won 21-0.
Joel Omer was the undoubted Man of the Tour after being named MoTM in the 17-12 Plate Semi win over Mean Machine and his work rate in the 0-10 Plate Final loss to Nakuru.
