Tyson Okoth was first to go over after collecting offload from Robin Kiplang’at. Omollo converted for a 7-0 lead. JKUAT would then have to play one man less after George Odipo was binned for dangerous tackle.
Richard Soi had the easiest of time when he casually swatted 3 defenders enroute to scoring. Omollo missed the conversion. Paul Mutsami then went over the chalk but Onsomu missed the posts registering a 12-0 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Mutsami later found himself on the final end of quickly strung passes and bolstered through JKUAT defence. He would have scored the try but opted to pass it to Omollo who dotted and converted stretching Impala’s lead to 24-0.
Samson Onsomu displayed his acceleration skills, beating not only one or two, but three defenders to dotting. Robin Kiplang’at missed the conversion. Joel Omer who also bagged the Man Of The Match recognition touched down at the corner. Rainer Omondi registered his first try of the tournament later on. Kiplang’at’s attempts at converting these two flew wide.
Impala would have wanted to win this match unblotted, but JKUAT’s Roy Mutethia had other plans. His try, nicely converted by George Nyanjui ruined ruined Impala’s hopes of a clean sheet in this second match of Day 1.
Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby – Mr. Fred Ollows lauded his charges for the discipline and proper attitude in approach.
‘I have watched KCB play. They love the physical approach and although we have technically advanced to the Main Cup Quarters, we have to play & win against them’, he asserts.
