Samson Onsomu turned over within Strathmore territory, released it to Robin Kiplang’at who then popped it to Brian Opar. Opar coasted into the try box, dotting the opener. Mohammed Omollo converted for the 7-0 lead.
Strathmore’s Albert Obura utilized his team’s only clear chance of scoring, breaking in between Paul Mutsami and Brian Opar. Brian Alukwe converted to level scores just before the half time whistle blew.
Churchill Ooko who has been instrumental in the students’ Nakuru 10s campaign chipped over Impala defence, chased and beat Opar to collection. His try, neatly converted by Alukwe would then have a desperate Impala seeking to level scores. Impala had the best of opportunities to score and probably force the game into extra time, but Elvis Oroko was forced out of the designated field of play with only 5 metres left out of the try box.

The 7-14 loss to Strathmore has Impala dropping to the Plate Semi where they will meet Mean Machine. The team will now seek to at least, lift the Plate trophy after losing the chance of lifting it last year after losing 5-10 to KCB
