Resolution Impala Saracens find themselves in a tricky Pool C of the 2018 Driftwood 7s. Having lost 19-24 to Strathmore Leos, the Gazelles went ahead to post a 24-12 win against Northern Suburbs in the 13th Place Semi and a 17-14 win in the 13th Place Final. The team will play at Driftwood on invitation and has a task to wiggle out of this pool, which has since been dubbed – the ‘Pool Of Death’.
Resolution Impala Saracens Director Of Rugby, Fred Ollows had this to say:
This is definitely the pool of death and our inclusion in it is a result of our performance at Kabeberi. We have Kabras, Strathmore & KCB. KCB are enjoying good form at the moment. A critical addition to their team is Andrew Amonde. Kabras has been tricky for us and you know Strathmore beat us in the Challenge Trophy Quarters last week at Kabeberi. But the thing about our team is we enjoy playing such matches. We have been in such situations before & powered our way out.
The boys shouldn’t worry about the position on the NSC 2018 log. The players need to stay in the moment and let the result take care of itself.
Head Coach – Oscar Osir must have been having a good look at the players since Kabeberi & he could be exploring having a player or two who shake up proceedings. I believe we were a little blunt at Kabeberi. Driftwood should be approached with sharpness.
I personally never played in the Bowl. It was very shocking to realize that we were in the 13th place competition. We mustn’t take anything for granted. We need to go out there and respect the opposition.
