Ongo rescues Impala Boks from Nondies II
IMPALA vs NONDIES II-5

The Resolution Impala Saracens Boks are back to grinding and winning after an ugly 12-27 loss to Homeboyz last weekend. The Impala Club was filled with excitement and well as despair when Impala winger – Quinto Ongo kicked over to flip scores at the 80th, giving Impala fans much needed relief.

Nondescripts’ Simon Ndung’u roughed up the Impala defence to score in the early minutes of the match. Scrum-half – Kabao Muruatetu converted. Quinto Ongo booted over penalty to close the gap, but immediately after the restart, Impala’s indiscipline was punished by Kabao’s boot. 10-3 Nondies. Soon enough, Quinto’s boot punished Nondies’ indiscipline. The scoreboard now read 6-10 Nondies. In a brilliant show of passing & high octane running by Patrick Mutuku & Ishmael Mokaya, Emmanuel Okeya was released to score Impala’s first try of the match. Quinto converted to confirm Impala’s take over of proceedings. Minutes later, Ongo pinned back his ears, stuck his eyes on the try line & scored. His attempt at converting hit the post. Impala’s 18-10 lead did not last long. Kabao booted from penalty to reduce it to 18-13.

Impala scored off pushover in the early minutes of the 2nd half and failed to convert. Nondies were relentless. They replied at the corner. The subsequent conversion attempt blew short. They would however muster firepower & blow through Impala defence. The conversion went through. The tables had been flipped. Nondies in the lead 25-23. Impala’s Evans Omondi scored a screamer after he swatted 2 Nondies defenders and dummied one before scoring under the posts. Ongo converted nicely, flipping the scoreboard once more. Impala leading 30-25. Nondies would sneak in a try & convert, flipping the board once more. Nondies 32-30 Impala. Nondies would have walked away with the win, but Quinto booted them out of the celebration. His 80th minute splitting of the posts from penalty silenced the Nondies fans on one end of the Impala Club & caused an eruption on another – where Impala fans were seated, previously drenched in chilling anxiety.
