SAMSON Onsomu will, this weekend, lead a Resolution Impala Saracens side that has made six changes to the starting side which beat KCB RFC 27-24 last week. Two of the changes are positional.
The Sarries play Kabras Sugar RFC at the ASK Showgrounds in Kakamega.
The single change to a charged forward pack sees club captain, Duncan Ekasi, replaced at the tail by last weekend’s openside flanker and Kenya trialist Paul Mutsami. Veteran Joel Omer returns to the blindside which sees forner Kenya U19 captain and another national trialist Tyson Okoth return to his regular ipenside flank. Ekasi is away on study commitment.
The backline sees more re-organization. International Nato Simiyu has work commitments and will be replaced by the most regular Gazelle fly half this season – Mohammed Omollo. Former Kenya U19 centre Billy Omondi makes his first Gazelle start this season in place of utility back Anthony Nyandigisi who has personal commitments.
Fullback Robin Kiplang’at will rest his soft tissue hip injury this weekend to be replaced by former Impala Academy fullback Mark Kwemoi.
“These changes give another set of exciting players of the Impala stable an opportunity to showcase their talent and offers a different tactical approach,” said the Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby, Fred Ollows, after naming the travelling team.
“Kabras is somewhat similar to KCB save that they have more nimble backs, in general. They love the ruck-to-maul facet and feed off their agile backs. We intend to be very attentive and snap up opportunities quickly when they arise”
Resolution Impala Saracens currently sit 4th on the Kenya Cup log with 51 points after 10 wins and 4 losses in 14 matches played. Kabras follow at 5th with 46 points gathered from 9 wins, 1 draw & 4 losses. Both teams are gunning for favorable play-off positions.
