Resolution Impala Saracens Backs Coach – Oscar Osir beams with excitement at the return of the longer version of the game. Osir is a renown rugby legend and steered Impala to successfully defending the Kabeberi 7s trophy on September 10 2017. He also led Impala to the Sepetuka 7s & Christie 7s finals. Immediately curtains were drawn on the 7s circuit in Dala, where Impala emerged 5th and 3rd overall in NSC 2017, he returned to join head coach – Frank Ndong’ in sharpening the backs. This weekend means a lot to him. Resolution Impala Saracens must go past an obstinate Machine in the semis before even thinking of defending the Floodies trophy which currently sits on a shelf in the Impala Pavilion.
In this story, he reveals Resolution Impala Saracens’ preparedness just before the Gazelles head out onto the turf this Saturday 11th November 2017 at 5pm:
“We did not play last weekend. Every first match of the season must have ‘pre-season/off season cobwebs’. There exists no replacement for a match. You can have inhouse matches against each other, but if you don’t challenge yourself against a different team, you’ll always have a scratchy start to the Kenya Cup/ESS league. Our off-season has been good. I am happy about our preparations so far. We are however not a well oiled machine yet, but I believe this weekend is going to be a good test for us. If the weather goes to the dogs, it will throw a spanner in the works, but we seek to adapt as fast as we can. We have players who are with the Kenya Simbas at the moment, but the academy set up here is an investment which will definitely replenish our player numbers. We are used to players coming to Impala when young, develop to very good players and move to other clubs. It is a cycle we are used to. It is a normal process for us. Every time a player leaves Impala for another team or is involved in national team duty, it creates opportunity for another player’s strengths to be amplified in the top league. For now, we’ll use who we have. You will definitely see new faces playing this weekend. They will only be revealed when the time is right.”
