Prinsloo 7s: Impala through to Challenge Cup Semis
IMPALA vs CUEA prinsloo edited 2-2

Although CUEA were first to signal figures changing at the scoreboard after try by Maxwell Omondi, Resolution Impala Saracens were quick to level proceedings through Captain Samuel Motari. Kwemoi could have collected the extras for the Gazelles but he got casual with the kick and sent it flying low under the posts. Billy Omondi would later breach CUEA defence to score at the corner. Samson Onsomu displayed pedigree by slotting it in with finesse. Derrick Mayar scored his first try of the 2017 local sevens circuit but Onsomu struggled to find the posts.

Omondi opened up CUEA defence in the early minutes of the second half to score his brace. Kwemoi was unfortunate with the conversion attempt when he hit the post. Mutsami scored his 8th try of the 2017 circuit under the posts. Onsomu gathered the extras easily. Lady luck would however not smile his way on his next attempt at converting Quinto Ongo’s try scored at the corner. His kick flew just wide.

Full-time: Resolution Impala Saracens 34-5 CUEA Monks

Resolution Impala Saracens Director Of Rugby – Fred Ollows

The boys had to get over yesterday. You could tell that the boys had no intent to play in Division 2. There were a couple of mistakes made at the breakdown but the most important thing was to seek recovery, which the boys did well in. My standout player for this match is Samson Onsomu. We have been having problems with converting, bt his conversion from the corner after Billy Omondi scored was pretty decent

Resolution Impala Saracens 7s Head Coach – Oscar Osir

Although we started 0-5 down, we came back to our structure. We saw a display of dynamic play. We have a problem to solve when it comes to conversions & will seek to work on them because they could have made a difference to our scoreline yesterday. We shouldn’t be very happy about escaping the Division 2 snare because we are a good team & should always do better. Our approach now is taking each game at a time

Resolution Impala Saracens Tour Captain – Samuel Motari

Key for us now is to find structures & plays that work for us enroute Sepetuka 7s. We had better control & our hearts didn’t sink even after CUEA scored first. Onsomu did well in distribution. If we’d played such beautiful rugby yesterday, the scenario on the order of play today would have been different.
