Repechage 2018: 4 Resolution Impala Saracens confirmed for Kenya Simbas duty

4 Resolution Impala Saracens players have made it to the Kenya Simbas travelling team which has been given another chance at a possible Rugby World Cup 2019 spot. When the provisional training squad was named on 1st September 2018 by governing body Kenya Rugby Union, Resolution Impala had a total of 4 players called up. The players were scrum-halves Xavier Kipng’etich, Samson Onsomu, Centre – Seje Owade & fullback Vincent Mose. As training progressed, Lock Simon Muniafu & utility back – Sammy Oliech received a call to join the squad. 53 days later and after sifting, KRU has given the nod to 4 Resolution Impala players to carry the nation’s flag in France between November 11th & 23rd when Kenya plays in the Repechage competition against Canada, HongKong and Germany. 

The four Resolution Impala Saracens players are: Simon Muniafu (lock), Samson Onsomu (scrum-half), Sammy Oliech (fly-half) and Leo Seje Owade (centre). The team departs Nairobi on the 31st of October. The Simbas will play a friendly match against Romania on 3rd November 2018. They will arrive in Marseille, France 3 days later to begin warming up for the Repechage contest. The winning team from this contest will earn a spot in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
