Resolution Impala Saracens advance to Enterprise Cup Quarters
IMG_4691

Kelvin Karani could have got the scoreboard reading 5-0 at half time hadn’t it been the referee’s call for forward pass. His intentions at sending a message to the Western Bulls defence were realized in the 8th minute. A platform set in Western Bulls 5 left a mismatch in attack. Oliech had the easiest moment of the game touching down at the corner but failing to convert his try for a 5-0 reading. The Bulls quick to restart took advantage of Impala’s lax. A Kevin Juma try successfully converted by Duncan Abuyeka got Impala trailing 5-7 at the 10th minute mark.

Aringo runs riot in midfield

The youngster though nervous at first was quick to settle. He constantly taunted his opposite centre, Cyrus Kuya and soon enough got him cracking open. His 15th minute ripping run through Kuya & Ekurutu provided offloading opportunity to Oliech who quickly downshifted gears to the line! Oliech’s successful conversion got the board reading 12-7 in Impala’s bias.

Duncan Abuyeka the boot master, Shiundu the pocket rocket, Oliech the designer cobbler

The Bulls had a plan coming into the game. Territorial play and capitalizing on Impala’s indiscipline in own half got Abuyeka converting two impossible chances to get Impala trailing 12-13 at the 23rd minute. Pius Shiundu’s feet were fast to reply. His well-done try was deliciously garnished by a well-seasoned Oliech conversion closing the first half at 19-13.

Aringo, Omer take no prisoners

A flawlessly taken penalty by Oliech in the 42nd minute would further poke the Western Bulls. 3 minutes later, Robert Aringo tore through midfield and over the chalk. Oliech missed an easy converting chance getting the scores reading 26-13 at the 45th minute. Joel Omer would later on in the 50th side step through Gworo & Asena. His sudden change of direction to the line found an unprepared Erastus Wanyama. Bang! And try! Oliech’s boot thus hit by a crosswind got the score sheet revealing an 18 point gap between the two teams.

Davis Chenge’s class

It was a long time coming. The former Kenya VIIs forward had been terrorizing Duncan Ekasi at back row. His running intensity, bulk and work rate got rewarded in the 57th minute; A try underneath the posts! Abuyeka’s boot was at 100% efficiency. 31-20 Impala.

Brian Bango shown yellow, Oliech widens gap

Dissent in the 63rd minute got Brian Bango binned. Oliech took advantage, calling for the tee. An easily taken penalty extended Impala’s lead by 14 points. Abuyeka was clearly having a good day with his boot. His effective 72nd minute 40 metre penalty kick added 3 points to the Western Bulls register. It was however not enough to salvage the Bulls from barbecue. Oliech’s polished boot took advantage of a penalty deep inside Bulls’ half, closing the game at 37-23 much to Western Bulls technical bench chagrin.
