Resolution Impala Saracens Boks lead Strathmore from minute 1 to 80
Impala vs Strathmore ESS editorial final

The Resolution Impala Saracens Boks continued their winning ways today in the 2018-19 Eric Shirley Shield Competition.

He is not planning on stopping soon. Paul Oimbo, probably the most experienced player to have taken on the pitch today scored Impala’s first try. Fly-half – Kanyiri Kariuki’s boot found the target for a 7-0 lead. Scrum-half – Patrick Mutuku scored from the back of the scrum after Strathmore proved no match for the Impala pack deep in own half. Kanyiri converted to stretch the lead to 14-0. Full-back – Emmanuel Okeya wrestled his way into the try-box, but Kariuki was unlucky with the conversion. Strathmore flanker – Andrew Mulama was shown yellow for breaking the law in contact. He was shortly followed to the bin by Impala’s Patrick Mutuku who made a dangerous tackle on an opponent. Strathmore proved better than Impala in taking chances and exploiting opportunities. The absence of Patrick Mutuku in the scrum-half position disorganized Impala. Strathmore proved more clinical, utilizing this deficit to score through Dedan Maurice. Walter Omanyo converted.

HT: Resolution Impala Saracens Boks 19-7 Strathmore Leos II

Impala lock – Bakata Elisapana saw yellow for a dangerous tackle. Strathmore utilized his absence & the fact that Impala were now playing with 13 men to dominating the line-out and went ahead to add 5 points to their bag through Omanyo. He however struggled with converting it. Mutuku’s re-entry from the bin was disastrous for Strathmore. The scrum-half set up Daniel Dindi who roughed up 3 opponents before ploughing his way into the try box. Dindi announced his desire for wanting to play for Impala’s premier side 2 minutes later. A try borne off ferocious speed. Kanyiri failed to kick these two over including a penalty set just 15 metres away and within a favourable angle. Although it looked a little unconventional, Dindi’s choice to grubber-kick for Martin Musau to chase with only 20 metres of yardage left to the try line proved a risk worth writing home about. Musau managed to out-pace his defender and just when he was about to pounce on the ball for the 5 points, he was tackled. The referee was immediately seen prancing. His destination – under the posts. He blew for penalty try.
