It took both teams a little over ten minutes to completely settle in the ESS match.
The Boks would go first on the scoreboard after fly half Robin Kiplagat sold a clean dummy to the visitors as Impala was attacking deep inside the opponent’s territory to score under the posts accompanied with a clean conversion. Impala were now leading 7-0.
At the restart and about midway into the match, Harlequins flanker Austin Olele flexed his ball snatching muscles from the Sarries and this saw him dash past the Impala defense to scoring. Smith Muhoya added the extras tying the two teams to 7 all. This try seemed to have boosted the Arturos’ hopes as they were attacking every gap visible within Impala defence. Having camped inside the Boks half, the Arturos opted to go for points after an Impala infringement. Smith would not miss the posts giving Quins the 10-7 lead at Half Time.
The Second half started with Quins extending the scoreline with an extra 3 points barely 10 minutes into the half but Impala were quick to retaliate, booting over penalty to narrowing the deficit to 3 points. Four minutes later, Impala went over the try-line but failed to convert. The Arturos would attempt to overturn Impala’s lead for the remainder 15 minutes, but the Boks stood resolute.
