The Resolution Impala Saracens Boks 2016-17 season unbeaten run came to a halt yesterday at the Impala Club after losing an 18-8 half time lead and conceding a 35-21 loss at the 80th minute.
KCB were first to go over through fly-half Bonab Were. He missed the easy conversion. Quinto Ongo booted over penalty to reduce the difference to only 2 points. Eric K’opondo scored through maul & Ongo converted superbly to propel the Sarries 5 points clear. KCB’s Were’s boot drilled over penalty at the 16th minute bringing scores to 10-8 Impala. It was expected that Ian Mabwa’s visit to the sin-bin would give the visitors that all needed advantage, but determined scrummaging by Impala’s forwards forced KCB into conceding try. Valentino Cosmas’ signature sneak from the back of the scrum was not converted by Ongo. 15-8 Impala.
KCB’s Ian Indimuli would also be sent to the bin for high tackle by referee Adrian Munyua. Ongo took the advantage, splitting the posts and gathering 3 points for the Sarries. Impala’s Stephen Ayora was caught breaking rules by Munyua and was offered time on the sinner’s chair. Impala held on to close the half with an 18-8 lead.
Impala lock Shem Angugo would be the next visitor on the sinner’s chair. Quinto would kick over penalty at the 50th minute for a 21-8 score-board register.
Successive tries from Karani Mike & Kimwai Kelvin converted by Bonab Were turned over the Boks lead. After finding themselves leading 22-21, the Cubs went on to pile 6 more points through Bonab Were’s spot-on penalty taking skills. Onyala Vincent scored at the 80th. Were converted to close the game 35-21.
The loss to KCB means that The Resolution Impala Saracens Boks slip to 2nd with 60 points. KCB top the ESS league with 63 points.
