Quinto boots RESOLUTION Impala Saracens to an early lead
Quinto Ongo was first to open the score-sheet. His 16th minute penalty gave RESOLUTION Impala Saracens the 3 minute lead but 4 minutes later, Menengai Cream Homeboyz 8th man – Steve Otieno went over the white dust but conversion attempt by Kelvin Masai flew wide.
Homeboyz who dominated possession & attacked with brute force registered another try through lock – Andrew Chogo in the 27th minute. Tony Onyango converted with ease. Impala 3-12 Homeboyz.
Onsomu loses chase against Shikoli
Collins Shikoli’s clean pair of heels would leave Samson Onsomu for dead in the 36th minute. His 40 metre tearing of Impala’s backline defence topped up by Masai’s left boot stretched Impala’s trail by 16 points. The visitors scored an unconverted try in the 40th minute through prop Bramwel Mayaka.
Opar peels off Ekasi, ignites hope for comeback
Trailing 3-24 at half-time, Impala needed to come back in the second half spirited for a comeback. The forwards upped the ante but had to wait for more than 23 minutes later for magic to happen. Brian Opar, last weekend’s Man of The Match peeled off 8th man – Duncan Ekasi from very tight angle. His hunger for the try box saw him side step and speed past Elisha Okello. Try time Impala!
Devastating Mayar registers name on score-sheet
Derrick Mayar came off the bench to taunt the Homeboyz defence. His 67th minute try scored at the corner flag although not converted seemed to signal Impala’s return of interest into the match. Trailing 13-24 all the Sarries needed to do was keep the Deejayz on the back foot & keep the ball in contact.
Otieno, Mavala and Kuto secure win for Homeboyz
The remainder 13 minutes would however be for the visitors to control. 2 unconverted tries by Alvin Otieno -73rd minute & Emmanuel Mavala – 78th minute dimmed Impala’s hope for a comeback. The atmosphere at one end of the Impala Club erupted into euphoria when Homeboyz winger – Cyprian Kuto grounded the ball under the posts in the 80th minute. Masai converted.
Centre referee Mwangi Karimi blew the whistle for the 13-41 full time register.
