Resolution Impala Saracens have named the match day 23 to take on newly promoted side – Mombasa RFC this Saturday 25th November from 4pm at the Impala Club. Speaking to our media team this evening after naming the team, Resolution Impala Saracens Head Coach Frank Ndong’ confirmed, “Timothy Makiya is playing really well in training. He is currently on form. The squad at Impala is chosen based on performance. He therefore gets to start at the right wing. Kelvin Ronnoh who recently moved to Impala from USIU has the right physical attributes. He did not get a lot of playtime last weekend when we played against KCB in the Floodies finals. In as much as he has the right physical attributes, he still has some skill building to do. He will start from the bench. A positive I cannot overlook from Floodies 2017 is the fact that the boys came out more organised against KCB in the final than against Mean Machine RFC in the Floodies 2017 semis. I was however a not happy with the final result. We face Mombasa this weekend. It is difficult to play against a team which you’ve never seen play. Mombasa are unpredictable. Our approach this weekend is playing to our style and getting them to try and respond.”
An interesting inclusion to the team is lock – Michael Gitau who joins Impala from Strathmore Leos. Resolution Impala Saracens Director of Rugby, Mr. Fred Ollows acknowldeged, “Gitau is a big boy! He carries the ball forward, is an experienced forward & is a big boost to Impala. We have been used to watching Makori start at 4, but he now has a chance to recharge his batteries especially after a strenous local sevens circuit. I however cannot play down the fact that Gitau still has some adapting to do in terms of our playing style. Most teams coming to Kenya Cup usually have a forward problem, but this case is not for Mombasa. This match will definitely be competitive and we’ll go at them with everything.”
