Resolution Impala Saracens has named 13 players to take on the inaugural Sepetuka 7s tournament to be played at the Eldoret Sports Club this Saturday 30th September & Sunday 1st October 2017.
The technical bench has made a number of changes to the squad that took on Prinsloo 7s. Ian Minjire is out due to injury on his glute. Speaking to our media team, Ian confirmed that he is indeed out of Sepetuka 7s selection due to gluteal injury picked during Kabeberi 7s. “I would have expected to be fully fit, but the injury was aggravated at Prinsloo,” remarks Ian who was nominated in the team of the tournament at Driftwood 7s & Kabeberi 7s. Anthony Nyandigisi is also out of selection due to an injury picked during Prinsloo 7s. Other players rested from action include Robin Kiplang’at & Billy Omondi who disclocated a finger at Prinsloo 7s.
Interesting inclusions to the team travelling to Eldoret on Friday morning are pocket rocket – Ian Mabwa & the hard tackling Timothy Makiya. Mabwa has been confirmed fit to play after overcoming a mild knock sustained in training 4 weeks ago. Timothy Makiya has been impressive during the past 2 weeks & has been considered for possible play time at the Eldoret Sports Club this weekend. David Moenga’s consistency in training has won him a chance to represent Impala in the shorter version of the game. The trio of Kenya XV internationals – Samson Onsomu, Sammy Oliech & Derrick Mayar are sure features for the team this weekend. Hannington Mbaka was unfortunately taken ill on Thursday evening. His position has been taken up by long serving player & former 7s campaign captain Paul Oimbo.
Resolution Impala Saracens is in Pool A which also has 2017 Prinsloo 7s winners – KCB, a massively improved Mwamba RFC outfit & an unpredictable CUEA Monks side.
Resolution Impala Saracens currently sit 5th on the National Sevens Circuit with 42 points. KCB sit fourth with 42 points but with a better score margin. Menengai Oilers are third with 43 points. Nakuru are 2nd on the log with 46 points. Sepetuka 7s hosts – Homeboyz top the log with 51 points. Mwamba are 9th with 25 points. CUEA are 13th with 6 points.
