The Standard Chartered Impala Rugby Academy takes on Eldoret Rfc in an encounter expected to be not short of physical. Academy coach, Nick Odera elicited confidence in his choice of squad for this Nationwide Quarter Final fixture.
‘A lot of focus has been applied on forward play. We have worked on tweaking the scrum to rigidity. Our player rotation throughout the league has borne results. Almost every player has received game time. This is an academy side and gradual improvement is our main goal. I cannot point out influential players. Ian Mabwa wears the fullback jersey and wraps the Captain’s armband on his upper arm. He is joined by Brian Opad & Kelly Atuke forming a fluid back three unit. Patrick Mutuku & Evans Omondi have been fielded at inside and outside centre respectively. Pace control responsibilities have been tendered to Gerry Opiyo & Antony Odhiambo, scrumhalf and fly half respectively.
Forwards
Mike Sharma watches over the scrum at 8th man. He is joined by Valentino Cosmas and Richard Asante at 7 and 6 respectively forming the back row. Marcus Garvey and Francis Achira are at lock. The front row is comprised of Douglas Ochami, Simon Pieter and Steve Okwiri.
