Will it be another 2 point win over Western Bulls?
IMG_0040

Impala’s sneaky ways

‘Sneaky win’, that is how we could loosely describe The Resolution Impala Saracens win when the Gazelles last locked horns with the Western Bulls on February 14th 2015. The match which could have ended with a 24-19 loss to the Bulls, changed when the backline came alive. It all went down to Pius Shiundu’s confidence in joining the line. His speedy feet & Mohammed Omolo’s kicking accuracy salvaged a meagre 2 point win for a 26-24 full time score posting.

Tight five

1. Karani Kelvin 2. Ndome Daniel 3. Juma Stephen 4. Makori Davis 5. Kerre Erick

It is known fact that the Western Bulls powerplant is a strong, bulky V5 engine capable of unbolting any scrum set in the country. Karani Kelvin starts at loose head, Ndome Daniel secures scrum downs at hooker. Juma Stephen’s bulk comes in at tight head to neutralize pressure. The technical bench has chosen functionality over flashiness in the locks. A rugged Makori Davis partners with Kerre Erick at 4 & 5 respectively

Back row

6. Ouko John 7. Omer Joel 8. Ekasi Duncan ©

A familiar line up that has always kept the opponent in check. It should be a difficult job breaking from the set piece if Omer’s arrogance, Ouko’s hunger for the tackle and Ekasi’s experience show up.

Halfbacks

9. Onsomu Samson 10. Nyandigisi Anthony

Onsomu returns to senior 15s action after inspiring the academy side to a 44-10 win over CUEA Monks II. His agility, versatility and sneaky passing is complemented by an equally tactical fly half – Anthony Nyandigisi.

Centres

12. Odhiambo Robert 13. Okowa George

Robert Odhiambo comes back to action after a long time in the sick bay. The youngster’s experience and grit at the crash ball marries smoothly with Okowa George’s intelligent space – seeking approach.

Back Three

11. Ongo Quinto 14. Shiundu Pius 15. Oliech Samuel

The trio which almost sunk the Red Lion during the ‘Chums’ Memorial encounter is back! Ongo’s clean catch will come in handy at the counter ball. Pius Shiundu’s confidence & speedy feet could just be what is needed at the 78th minute if matters get out of hand. Oliech’s boot has been known to convert tragedy to triumph. If his successful corner flag conversion witnessed during the Impala – Nondies match is testimony, Western Bulls will have nothing to play but restarts after the other.

Reserves

16. Obino Edgar 17. Munai Harritone 18. Oimbo Paul 19. Okeyo Kevin 20. Omollo Mohamme 21. Dinda David 22. Mose Vincent 23. Soita Wekesa
